William Nylander's playing status going forward remains unclear after he suffered a lower-body injury on Thursday.
Nylander is doubtful for Saturday's game in Winnipeg, Toronto Maple Leafs coach Craig Berube told reporters on Friday. But the team does not yet know if it's a short- or long-term issue, Berube said.
The 29-year-old left after less than three minutes of total ice time Thursday in Vegas, going to the locker room before the opening frame was over, but it's unclear how the injury occurred.
After scoring his goal midway through the first, Nylander did appear to stumble while celebrating near the boards, but he stayed in the game for a few more shifts before exiting.
Following his two-point outing on Thursday before being ruled out, Nylander now has 17 goals and 31 assists on the year through 37 appearances.
Nylander returned from a six-game absence because of a lower-body injury on Jan. 10.
Meanwhile, goaltender Anthony Stolarz has his eyes on the Toronto Maple Leafs' upcoming five-game homestand for a return to the lineup.
The goaltender said Friday he thinks he could get back in the lineup after a "couple more practices," per Sportsnet's Anna Dua.
Stolarz said a nerve issue has kept him out of the lineup.
The Leafs face the Jets on Saturday at 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+.
